This is a collection of 17 meticulously crafted drum etudes, drawing inspiration from legendary jazz drummers like Art Blakey, Billy Higgins, Art Taylor, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, and more. Unlike many books that focus on the indepence aspect of comping, these etudes offer a language-based approach to jazz comping, allowing you to immerse yourself in the language of the masters.
You can either work on each etude individually or group them together. I wrote them in 12 bar phrases so they can be played along with any blues play along at different tempos. They match up perfectly with my blues bass play along tracks if you're looking for a strategic and practical way of working on different tempos. I also recommend practicing them with your favorite blues tracks by your favorite artists.
