Melodic Comping Etudes - RHYTHM CHANGES (32-BAR FORM)

This is a collection of ten 32-bar etudes, drawing inspiration from legendary jazz drummers like Art Blakey, Billy Higgins, Art Taylor, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, and more. Unlike many books that focus on the indepence aspect of comping, these etudes offer a language-based approach to jazz comping, allowing you to immerse yourself in the language of the masters.

You can either work on each etude individually or group them together. I wrote them in 32 bar phrases so they can be played along with any 32-bar track or play along at different tempos. They match up perfectly with my rhythm changes bass play along tracks if you're looking for a strategic and practical way of working on different tempos. I also recommend practicing them with your favorite 32-bar form tracks by your favorite artists.

Here's a link to a lesson where I explain and demonstrate how to practice these etudes.
